Pia Vlok

Pia Vlok joined the Wellington Phoenix for the start of pre-season training in September after signing a three-year contract, the first two of which are on scholarship terms.

The young forward started playing football at Three Kings United (now Auckland United) and spent time at Central United and Bucklands Beach AFC before rejoining Auckland United as a 12-year-old.

She has also shone for New Zealand at age-group level.

Vlok was named the best player at the 2024 OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Fiji before going on to represent New Zealand at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. She started two of their three group matches.

She also was a standout in the National League, scoring in Auckland United’s 2024 grand final win over Waterside Karori and earning player of the match.

> 2025-26 season

Pia Vlok was the breakout player of the 2025-26 Ninja A-League, ending as the Phoenix’s equal top scorer with six goals, and winning young player of the year at both club and league levels.

Netting against Melbourne Victory made her the youngest ever player to score for the Phoenix.

She also became both the first ever Ninja A-League hat-trick scorer for Wellington and the second-youngest in league history to do so after grabbing three goals against the Newcastle Jets in February.

Just days later, she was called up to the senior Football Ferns squad for the first time, scoring her first international goal against the Solomon Islands in an 8-0 win.

Her impressive season was capped with a A-League All-Stars selection, for whom she featured against Chelsea FC in August 2026.

Vlok was also part of the New Zealand squad that competed at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, supplying the assist for club teammate Lily Brazendale to score against Japan.
