Wellington Phoenix Partner NZCIS Shows Community Generosity

Not only are NZCIS supporting the Wellington Phoenix this season as New Zealand’s only professional football team, but through this new partnership they’re also finding ways to support their local community.

As part of their relationship with the Phoenix, NZCIS receive a provision of match day tickets for all home games at Westpac Stadium. Malcolm Gillies, owner of NZCIS was quick to suggest that Hutt International Boys’ School would be worthy recipients of these tickets.

“We enjoy supporting our local community & our local schools – HIBS in particular is a fantastic school which spends a lot of time and effort on their sports programme, so I’m delighted to be able to pass these tickets onto them to use.”

HIBS Principal Mike Hutchins was pleasantly surprised to receive the gift.

“We’ve always known Malcolm and NZCIS to be a massive contributor to our region, and this is just another example of that” said Hutchins.

Football has enjoyed a recent boost in profile at HIBS, on the back of 18 year old – and current HIBS student – Ben Waine signing with the Phoenix this season.

“The entire school is taking a close interest in football and in Ben’s career, so I’ve no doubt these tickets will be put to good use.”

Wellington Phoenix’s next home game is Sunday 27th October, where they take on Perth Glory at Westpac Stadium from 6pm.
