Wellington Phoenix are to host its annual Community Day on Sunday 16th September at Waitangi Park.

This family friendly event will be a great opportunity for Phoenix fans to engage with their local football heroes and have a fun filled day.

There will be a wide range of activities on offer – bouncy castles, football activities, partner activations, food, giveaways and live entertainment, plus a chance to meet the 2018/19 Phoenix squad and talk to them about the upcoming season.

This is a great opportunity to learn about Wellington Phoenix’s Membership offerings and renew or purchase your Membership for the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager, David Dome, says the Community Day, as well as the hundreds of hours spent in the community, is a crucial part of the club’s identity.

“We are proud of our city and as part of this we pride ourselves in giving back through these events and what we can do to add to what this wonderful city has to offer.

“It is always a joy to see the smiles of children meeting their footballing heroes and I know the players and staff enjoy the experience of meeting fans and those curious about the club.”

Wellington Phoenix will also be launching its 2018/19 Football Diversity and Inclusion Programme.

An initiative that is run in conjunction with all greater Wellington regional mayors and councils, the FDIP offers season tickets to recently resettled refugees in the wider Wellington region.

Facilitated by the local branches of Red Cross, Multi-cultural Councils of New Zealand, Changemakers Refugee Forum, Volunteer Wellington and overseen by Human Rights Commission, the programme saw over 1,000 recent immigrants attend a Wellington Phoenix football match last season.

Partner organisations and cultural performance groups from the FDIP will be in attendance to celebrate this launch.
