The Sydney-born Sotirio has been a revelation for the Phoenix this season, scoring his first goal against Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 9 and forming a solid partnership with Ulises Davila and David Ball.

Prior to this, Sotirio had played five seasons with the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Hyundai A-League, making 81 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

Head Coach Ufuk Talay says he has been pleased with Sotirio’s contribution to the team so far this season.

“Jaushua has been great for us this season; he’s been a dynamic attacking player for us as he has a lot of speed and versatility upfront and fits in well with the players around him – we bought him in to work hard and to continually raise his game and he’s certainly fit the bill in that regard.

“Jaushua is very influential with the team – a young player with lots of experience, ambition and drive who wants to be successful and for the team to be successful.”

Coach Talay says that Sotirio’s re-signing helps the Phoenix to carry on their momentum of building a good team both for now and the future.

“This signing is part of the Phoenix’s plan to solidify our squad with a view to next season and beyond – we started this season with only seven players on the books and we want to avoid this happening again in future seasons.

“I’m very delighted to have Jaushua on board and I know he’s delighted to be in an environment that’s focussed on a winning future.”
