Capital Football are pleased to announce a new development as they further foster our relationship with the Wellington Phoenix with the goal of strengthening football in our region.
The Wellington Phoenix recently announced their Phoenix in Schools Programme, which sees a number of visits to schools around the Wellington region. The visits are tailored to each school and are in a number of guises; from Question and Answer sessions, signing autographs, to even story time!
The partnership between the Wellington Phoenix and Capital Football will also see these visits tie in with the ASB Football In Schools programme that Capital Football and a number of our Clubs deliver in their local areas.
Capital Football currently deliver the Football In Schools programme in conjunction with Hutt City Council and KiwiSport, which offers children new opportunities to get active through football. Each of the programmes are founded on providing children with a fun experience, using football-based challenges to inspire further participation.
School children around Wellington can now look forward to visits from Wellington Phoenix players to assist us with our Football In Schools programme. Your favourite Phoenix players will come along to sessions during the school term and jump in for a kick around or to pass on some of their skills.
If your Club would like to be part of the Capital Football schools programme please contact Paul Greig, Capital Football-s programme coordinator for Football In Schools, paul@capitalfootball.org.nz.
If your Club works with schools in your area and would like the Wellington Phoenix to visit, please contact Rachel Martelli, Community Development Officer at the Wellington Phoenix Rachelm@prod.wellingtonphoenix.aleagues.com.au.
