Wellington Phoenix fans will this weekend get the chance to literally take the shirt off their favourite players- back.
Sunday-s A-League game against Adelaide United is the annual adidas/Wellington Phoenix Charity match with this year-s proceeds going to Life Flight
Life Flight is an emergency air services charity that relies on public support to save lives. It operates air rescue in Greater Wellington and Marlborough and a nationwide air ambulance service. It is most recognised by its sponsored Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Last year the Phoenix raised almost $20,000 for charity, and this year they want to raise even more.
The Phoenix will again be playing in a one off adidas strip designed by a fan and the playing shirt will be auctioned directly after the match on TradeMe.
The unique strip, of which only two sets are ever made, is produced using adidas’ online customisation tool miTeam.com. miTeam.com gives any team or player the ability to create their own customised playing or training kit.
The match kicks off at 4.30pm at Westpac Stadium
