Nix duo called up to the Football Ferns

Two Wellington Phoenix players have been named in the Football Ferns for next month’s internationals in Taiwan.

Annalie Longo and Manaia Elliott have called up to the New Zealand squad for two matches against Chinese Taipei.

Longo (138 caps) captained the Ferns for the first time in last month’s internationals against Costa Rica.

She has been a standout for the Phoenix this Ninja A-League season, scoring three goals and creating four others in 17 appearances.

Elliott, who captained New Zealand at U-17 and U-20 level, made her senior debut in the first of two matches against Costa Rica last month and is enjoying a breakout campaign at club level.

She has featured in all 18 of the Phoenix’s matches this season, scoring three goals, including an Olimpico match-winner against Newcastle Jets in January.
