Huawei has reaffirmed support for the Wellington Phoenix as the club seeks to extend its FFA license.
The technology firm has been principal sponsor of the Phoenix since 2013.
“Our partnership with the Phoenix has been hugely important to our growth in New Zealand, introducing the brand to a massive audience and helping to forge new relationships in the corporate sector,” Huawei NZ Public Affairs Director Andrew Bowater said.
“We have grown with the club and shared in their success. It is our intention to remain a close partner and supporter of the Phoenix as they continue to impress with their skill and passion as one of the most exciting teams in the A-League.
“The Phoenix has one of the most impressive and stable networks of commercial partners in the League, and this is part of the attraction for a company like Huawei. The Phoenix remain a big part of our brand strategy. This season we have launched Huawei Business FC to grow the network around the club and enable those companies that are passionate about football and the Phoenix to come together and forge new partnerships.
“This partnership has helped put both Wellington and the A-League on the radar in Asia. Huawei took the team to Hong Kong this year and the plan is to take this further with regular matches against Beijing.”
Mr Bowater said Huawei had been with the club for all the highs of the past few years, leading the A-League table for the first time, victory over West Ham United, away wins against all A-League clubs and a semi-final match up with Atletico Madrid at the Hong Kong Soccer 7s.
“Huawei stands strong with the Phoenix as we push for the title this season and into the future.”
