Auckland-s edition of the Carlsberg Football United Tour will kick off with a curtain raiser that will see an eclectic mix do battle on Eden Park before Wellington Phoenix- clash with West Ham on Wednesday July 23.

Radio personalities and football tragics Martin Devlin, Andrew Clay and Kent Johns (Radio Sport), will be joined by ZM drive show hosts and football newbies Luke and PJ, plus the Hits- Glen Stuart and Hauraki-s Alex Behan.

Diving skills will be to the fore with television actors and presenters Spencer Falls, Will Hall and Tyler Read (Shortland St), Millen Baird (Auckland Daze), Jo Holly (ITM Fishing show), Chris Chang and Sam Wallace (Breakfast TV), and Dean Butler, Gill Higgins and Emma Keeling (7 Sharp).

There may even be a few laughs in the football skills displayed by New Zealand sports broadcast icon and Crowd Goes Wild producer Rick Salizzo.

Probably the most skill will be from All Black legend and Auckland Blues coach John Kirwan and his son, talented up and coming footballer Niko.

Bringing up the rear will be Herald on Sunday journalist and football wannabe Michael Burgess.

Also involved will be former All White and television football pundit Noah Hickey who says the curtain raiser will be a fun event and will be sure to show up a wide variety of skills.

“These things are always good fun and there are always some interesting moves that turn up.

“Be very interesting to see who-s got moves like Messi and who-s got moves more like a teletubby.”

The curtain-raiser kicks off at 6pm and will be played over two 15-minute halves.

Following the curtain-raiser hip hop group Identity Dance Crew who in August are competing at the World Hip Hop Champs in Las Vegas will perform as will the award winning New Zealand Navy band.
