Be Part of Herstory – 20.11.22

The Wellington Phoenix are calling on New Zealand football fans to Be Part of Herstory next month.

On Sunday, November 20 the Phoenix will host Melbourne City in round one of the 2022-23 Liberty A-League season.

It will be the first game of professional women’s football in New Zealand and the club are targeting an A-League women’s record crowd of 10,000.

Tickets are now on sale for the family-friendly 3pm kick-off and to celebrate the Phoenix are making entry free for kids, while offering a special two-for-one ticket deal for adults.

Phoenix women’s memberships for all nine of their home matches are also now available and they are free for all junior players (under 16-years-old) registered with Capital Football*.

Principal partners Spark and OPPO have extended their support for the club by getting in behind the women this season and they will have a range of prizes up for grabs at Sky Stadium.

Chemist Warehouse have also come on board as the matchday partner.

Phoenix general manager David Dome has issued a call to action for what the club regards as an unmissable event.

“This is a going to be a very special day in New Zealand’s football history,” Dome said.

“The club has worked incredibly hard to get a professional women’s team up and running and last year Covid scuttled plans to have them play at home.

“But now it’s happening – and we want Wellingtonians and football fans from around Aotearoa to get in behind the women at Sky Stadium.

“A crowd of 10k would be a record for the A-League women’s competition and would be a fitting way to acknowledge the significance of the occasion. So Be Part of Herstory and buy your tickets now!”
