A tough set of fixtures for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
The weekend saw both reserves sides enter the national cup competitions with mixed results.
In the Delivereasy Kate Sheppard Cup, the women’s reserves strolled to an 8-1 victory away to Palmerston North Marist.
Lily Brazendale’s hattrick was the headline, while Isla Cleall-Harding and Emily Humphrey nabbed two goals apiece, Ella McMillan scoring the other.
The men’s reserves didn’t have the same success after drawing a tough assignment against Napier City Rovers in the Delivereasy Chatham Cup.
With a number of players away with the U20 New Zealand side, the reserves went down 3-1 in Napier despite Luke Flowerdew opening the scoring.

Bridie Christie, Maisy McDonald, and Isabella Temple all got on the scoresheet for the Nix.
