The Wellington Phoenix can confirm that Gabriel Sloane-Rodrigues has left the club following a mutual termination of his contract.
After joining the Phoenix academy at the age of 14 in 2022, Sloane-Rodrigues made his A-League debut two years later, becoming the then-youngest player in club history.
A month afterwards, the attacker signed his first professional contract, inking a three year deal.
He made four more appearances for the Nix over the following two seasons.
Phoenix director of football Shaun Gill has thanked Sloane-Rodrigues for his time at the club.
“We’d like to thank Gab for his contribution to the Phoenix, all the way from when he joined the academy.
“It’s always great to see a player graduate from the academy to the first team, and especially to debut at such a young age.
“It makes sense that he needs to find some football given the limited minutes he’s had over the last couple of seasons.
“We wish Gab all the best for the future and look forward to following his progress.”
Gabriel Sloane-Rodrigues will be leaving the club with good memories.
“There’s been lots of ups and downs, but overall it’s been really enjoyable.
“I had a meeting with Greeny, and he gave me the option to leave or stay. I thought it was the best decision to leave and explore an adventure elsewhere.
“I’ve had great teammates and great staff in my couple years here that have really helped me develop in a professional environment.
“I learnt a lot at the academy, and they played a huge role in me signing my first professional contract, so I’m really grateful for all they did.”
