Riley Bidois signed for the Phoenix on loan for the 2026-27 season from American side Monterey Bay.

Bidois began his career at the Wellington Phoenix, making his pro debut during the 2021-22 A-League season while the Nix were based in Sydney.

He first joined the Nix in 2019 from Tauranga City after being identified at the Western Springs U-17 tournament.

He was a standout in the academy system, scoring 16 goals in 14 Central League games during 2021 to earn his call up to the first team.

After a year with Dandenong City in Australia’s National Premier Leagues, he moved to the United States to feature in the USL Championship.

His first stint was with Loudoun United in Virginia,  where he scored 11 goals over 58 appearances.

While he helped New Zealand qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics and was named in the squad after scoring five goals against Fiji in the qualification final, he missed out on the actual tournament after tearing his hamstring in training.

Bidois then joined Monterey Bay in California in 2026.

> 2025-26 season

Riley Bidois made a fast start to his Monterey Bay career, scoring five goals in his first eight games before an injury sidelined him.

He joined the Phoenix on loan in September 2026 after three and a half years away.

“I’m returning to the club a better and more confident player,” he said.

“I’ve played a lot of football and I’ve experienced a different league and culture.

“I definitely feel like I’ve grown a lot since I was here last time for sure.

“As a striker I want to score goals and that’s how I’ll be judged, but most important I want to help the team win as many games as possible.”
