Rafael Durán

Rafael Durán signed for Wellington on a two-year deal in August 2026.

The Mexican striker has played over 300 professional matches, primarily in his home country.

Born in Guadalajara, he made his professional debut for Tigres UANL and featured for a number of Mexican sides before joining the A-League via Macarthur FC for the 2025-26 campaign.

He considers himself as a forward who can get in behind defenders and remain calm in front of goal.

Rafael Durán scored four goals and added two assists for Macarthur FC despite being played out of position as a winger, rather than a striker, for the majority of the season.

He joined Wellington ahead of the 2026-27 A-League season, and jumped at the opportunity to sign.

“I wanted another experience in the A-League and I want to score a lot of goals in Wellington,” he said.

“Football is easy when you feel comfortable on the pitch and that’s when you play your best.

“I will set a target at the start of the season and I will work hard to score 10 or more goals.

“But I also think about how I can best help the team by setting up goals as well as scoring.”
