Dublin Boon joined the Wellington Phoenix on a one-year scholarship contract in August 2024 to provide competition for first team goalkeepers Josh Oluwayemi and Alby Kelly-Heald.

The Cantabrian played his junior football at Nomads United and Christchurch United before graduating to the Nomads first team.

He spent last season with Roda JC in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football.

> 2023-24 season

Dublin Boon headed over to Europe at the start of 2023 after attracting some interest from European scouts at a football camp in Melbourne.

Boon ended up joining Roda JC in July 2023 and went on to play for their under-21 side, making five starts in the spring competition.

He returned to New Zealand in July 2024 and signed his maiden pro contract with the Nix after playing for the reserves in the Central League.

Boon sees the move as a great chance to continue developing as a ball-playing goalkeeper.

“I think I can play that type of football quite well. It’s a part of my game that I’m used to.

“Ultimately, I just want to learn as much as I can and develop to see where I go.

“We’ll see what happens over the year. I believe if I keep consistent, keep disciplined, I can show myself as best as I can.”
