#15 DAISY BRAZENDALE – DOB 12/3/06

Daisy Brazendale is the youngest member of the Wellington Phoenix women’s squad.

The 17-year-old defensive midfielder is one of the team’s four scholarship players for the 2023-24 A-League.

Brazendale, who doesn’t turn 18 until the end of this season, has signed a three-year contract with the Phoenix, the first two of which are on scholarship terms.

She grew up in Golden Bay and played in the small South Island town before joining FC Nelson.

Brazendale’s family moved to Wellington in 2022 so she could join the Phoenix academy. She has played for the academy’s reserves team under Paul Temple and more recently Katie Barrott.

> 2022-23 season

Daisy Brazendale trained with the Wellington Phoenix women’s squad during the 2022-23 A-League before playing for the reserves in 2023.

Brazendale was announced as one of the team’s four scholarship players a few days out from the start of pre-season training in September.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to have been given this opportunity,” she said.

“I’m so grateful to be in an environment like the Phoenix and be coached by people like Paul and Katie, who push me hard every day, but also look after me so well as a player and as a person.”

Brazendale’s parents have sacrificed a lot for her to follow her footballing dreams.

“I know for a fact I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them.

“They used to drive me for four hours to get to training in Nelson and my parents then left their jobs and moved to Wellington so I could join the academy, so I can’t thank them enough.”
