Aimee Danieli

Aimee Danieli signed a two-year scholarship contract with the Wellington Phoenix in August 2024 after being a training partner with the first team during the 2023-24 season.

The goalkeeper started her footballing journey at Eastern Suburbs in Auckland and played for Cambridge FC, Hamilton Wanderers and Auckland United before moving to Wellington at the start of 2023 to join the academy.

Danieli made her professional debut in the women’s final game of the 2023-24 season, coming off the bench against Western Sydney Wanderers.

She was also part of the Junior Football Ferns squad for the 2024 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Colombia, where she was an unused substitute for all three games.

Her second A-League appearance came in the 2024-25 home opener, coming off the bench for an injured Carolina Vilão.

> 2025-26 season

Aimee Danieli featured once in the 2025-26 A-League, making her first professional start.

With Vic Esson injured, Danieli played the full 90 against Melbourne City, as the Nix fell 1-0 to the eventual champions.

She did not make a further appearance during the season but was amongst the substitutes whenever available.

Danieli signed a one-year contract extension soon after the grand final.

“I love the club, everything about it, so I want to stay,” Danieli said. “Last season was insane. It was so cool.

“It’s a testament to all the people involved who are doing good things for the Phoenix.

“I can’t wait to get back to work with the players, Bev and the rest of the staff.”
