Wellington Phoenix Unveils New Playing Kits; Announces Spark and OPPO as Principal Sponsors

The Wellington Phoenix have today unveiled their new playing kits for the 2021/22
A-League Season and announced two new principal partners in Spark New Zealand and OPPO.

We are thrilled that two companies of the stature of Spark and OPPO have come on board to get in behind New Zealand’s highest participation sport.

The home strip features the welcome return of the Club’s iconic black stripes on a yellow background, with the Spark logo prominent on the shirt centre. The away strip retains the popular aqua and blue look – first introduced by the Club last season – with a new pattern design that features the OPPO logo.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager, David Dome says that the addition of Spark and OPPO as principal partners for next season gives the Club a pair of well-known, reputable brands who each provide the Phoenix with added profile.

‘’This is a ground-breaking and unique three-way partnership which sees two of New Zealand’s most innovative and creative companies join with the Phoenix,” says Dome.

‘’We are thrilled that two companies of the stature of Spark and OPPO have come on board to get in behind New Zealand’s highest participation sport – and the fact that the Club has two principal partners to work together with is exciting for us.

“I am really looking forward to working with Spark and OPPO and delivering some pretty cool initiatives to sports fans all over the country through the Wellington Phoenix.’’

Count Wellington Phoenix striker Ben Waine as a fan of the new kit and its look.

“It’s always nice to be something looking fresh like this jersey, I’m very impressed by the kits this year and I can’t want to play in them to be fair,” says Waine.

“I definitely like the stripes; it’s taking us back to our roots; it’s that iconic Phoenix look that me and Sutts [Phoenix teammate Sam Sutton] have grown up watching.”

Spark and Oppo are Wellington Phoenix’ Principal Partners and will appear on the Home and Away jerseys for the upcoming season.

Spark’s Value Management Lead, Rajesh Singh said he was delighted for Spark to be the technology partner, in association with Oppo, for the Phoenix and to step up its sponsorship for the team’s next season.

“For Spark, entertainment is an important part of our business – we provide approximately one third of our customers with leading entertainment services including Spark Sport, and this partnership further expands our mission to help keep New Zealanders entertained, while supporting local sport.”

OPPO New Zealand’s Managing Director, Morgan Halim, says the company is excited to endeavour on their first major New Zealand sports team sponsorship with the Phoenix.

“In light of our dedication to support high-performing local brands, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Wellington Phoenix. Both of our teams are big believers in the collaborative nature of partnership, sharing the same values such as inclusion and kindness makes it easy to align our brands and to support one another over the coming years.”

In addition to being available for sale to the public at a later date, the Wellington Phoenix’s new playing kits will also be featured in the FIFA 22 video game which launches publicly on 1 October 2021.
