The Wellington Phoenix are pleased to report that its remaining coaching staff and players have been successfully able to travel from New South Wales, Australia into New Zealand today.
Phoenix players Joshua Laws and Jaushua Sotirio, as well as Coach Ufuk Talay, Assistant Coach Giancarlo Italiano and Head Physio Ben Venn are now in managed isolation in Auckland for the required 14-day period; they are scheduled to travel to Wellington on Monday 16 August to join the New Zealand-based players currently at training.
In addition, Phoenix players Callan Elliot, Clayton Lewis, Sam Sutton and Ben Waine have completed their OlyWhites duties at the Tokyo Olympics and have now returned to New Zealand – alongside Phoenix Reserves players Ben Old and Alex Paulsen. These players will also join the squad in Wellington for the week of Monday 16 August at the conclusion of their 14-day period managed isolation period.
The Club are also working to bring Olyroo Reno Piscopo and newly-signed Nicholas Pennington into New Zealand; the former returning from the Tokyo Olympics and the latter joining the Club from his Italy home.
The Wellington Phoenix squad currently stands at 16 players for the 2021/22 season.
