Wellington Phoenix Competitors, HoneyBadger FIFA and airbrn__ finished the regular E-League 2020 season on a high, finishing in third place – just four points behind Premiers, Sydney FC.

The 11 round regular season came to an end on Saturday 7 March at the ESL Studios in Sydney as we ended up achieving our highest place finish since the inception of the competition in 2018.
Having finished Match Day 1 in third place behind Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory, both competitors were looking to push for top spot in the competition and were one of the form teams coming into Match Day 2.
Match Day 2 began with a potential title decider as we took on Sydney FC but despite our best efforts, we took a narrow loss to the eventual Premiers side even though HoneyBadger FIFA prevented FUTWIZMarko a win.
We went on to win all three of our remaining fixtures, beating Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City as we extended our grasp on the top three.
With two fixture remaining, the Premiers title was still up for grabs but Sydney proved too strong and staved off pressure from us and Brisbane Roar to win the trophy heading into the Finals Series.
The E-League 2020 Finals Series will be held at Fortress Melbourne on 9 May as both HoneyBadger FIFA and airbrn__ look to continue their red hot form and bring home the first Grand Final trophy home to Wellington.
