This joint initiative between the two clubs will see a pair of A-League matches being played on Sunday 21 March at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle; the Wellington Phoenix will take on Brisbane Roar FC in the first fixture, followed by the Newcastle Jets facing Adelaide United in the later game.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome says that he is confident the event will attract the wider sports fan in addition to football fans.

“This has been a great outcome for the club, and the result of working in collaboration with Venues NSW, the A-League and the Newcastle Jets to make it all happen,” says Dome.

“It also shows that the Wellington Phoenix is once again continuing to look at new ways of delivering a sporting experience for its fans, which is important given the ever-changing landscape of sports in Australia.

“We’re really excited to be part of something special next month and we hope the fans will come along on 21 March to watch four A-League teams in action on one day.”
