Venue confirmed for Brisbane visit

The Wellington Phoenix are taking their rescheduled Isuzu UTE A-League match against Brisbane Roar to Leichhardt Oval in Sydney’s inner west and the gates will be opened for fans.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at WIN Stadium in Wollongong on Wednesday, January 5, but had to be postponed to make way for the Phoenix’s FFA Cup quarter-final against Melbourne City.

The game will now be held at Leichhardt on Wednesday, February 16 with kick-off at 5:25pm AEDT (7:25pm NZT).

After having to stage this week’s mid-week match at WIN Stadium behind closed doors, the club has chosen to play at the famous rugby league ground in a hope more of the Phoenix’s Sydney-based fans can attend the match.

As is the case across the A-League during the ‘February Football Frenzy’ tickets cost no more than $20 and will be available from Ticketek Australia in the coming days.

Leichhardt is handy for the Phoenix men too. It is less than half an hour by bus from their base at Chatswood in Sydney’s lower north shore.

They will play at Leichhardt Oval twice in four days next week, with Saturday night’s match against Sydney FC also scheduled to be played at the ground.
