Wellington Phoenix and Sky Sport Join Forces

Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand’s Premier sports broadcaster, Sky Sport, have joined forces in a new partnership deal.

As broadcaster and New Zealand producer of the Hyundai A-League, Sky Sport is already closely associated with the club and the new relationship will see Sky Sport work more closely than ever before with New Zealand’s only professional football club and give fans an even greater insight into the Phoenix.

Sky Sport will also take up the back of shirt position on all home and away shirts, as well as branding on travel gear.

Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome said the partnership was an important extension of the existing relationship between club and broadcaster.

‘’Sky Sport has undergone significant change in the last six months including the introduction of a dedicated football channel and the new Sky Sport Now app.

‘’The new CEO and his team have been a breath of fresh air to deal with and we are truly excited about building a partnership with the new Sky.

‘’We want to give fans even greater access to the club and are working with Sky on how we do this – not only on game day where we will be introducing some new initiatives – but in and around the club.

‘’Sky gives us important reach into the wider New Zealand sports community and of course are a huge contributor to sports in New Zealand.

‘’If you want to help support the club, and you don’t already have a Sky Sport subscription, we encourage all fans to hook themselves up so they can watch all the red hot Hyundai A-League action on Sky Sport 7!’’

Sky Chief Executive Martin Stewart said, “We’re proud to step up our partnership with the Phoenix for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.

“Sky has had a long-term relationship with the team and it’s great to be deepening our support with this sponsorship.

“Our goal is to deliver excellent sport experiences to New Zealanders, and we’re looking forward to working with the Phoenix over the coming months to make the fan viewing experience even better, both on Sky Sport and at the soon to be renamed Sky Stadium.

“Sky is committed to supporting and enhancing local sports teams, and our sponsorship of the Phoenix follows our support for the Warriors women, the Kiwis, the Kiwi Ferns, the Junior Kiwis and the Sky Sport Breakers.”
