Reno Piscopo has been rewarded for his most prolific season with the Wellington Phoenix.
The attacking midfielder has been named in the 30-man A-Leagues All Stars squad to play FC Barcelona at the newly revamped Accor Stadium in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Australian Professional Leagues (APL) commissioner Greg O’Rourke used one of his two picks to select Piscopo, after he scored four goals and set up three others to help the Phoenix qualify for the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League finals.
The 23-year-old’s first three goals came in an eye-catching four-game span in February.
Piscopo found the back of the net four times across his first two seasons with the club.
The final A-Leagues All Stars playing squad to face FC Barcelona will be confirmed on Tuesday once the A-League grand finalists are found this weekend.
Regardless of whether Piscopo features against the Spanish giants he will still be regarded as an A-Leagues All Star.
Manny Muscat and Albert Riera were the last Wellington Phoenix players to be named All Stars. They started the 2014 match against Juventus, after club legend Paul Ifill came off the bench in the inaugural fixture against Manchester United in 2013.
