Piscopo joins rival A-League club

Reno Piscopo has ended his time at the Wellington Phoenix.

The attacking midfielder has signed with a rival Isuzu UTE A-League club for the 2022/23 season, after three years with the Phoenix.

Piscopo played 59 A-League matches for the Nix, scoring eight goals and creating eight others.

This season was the 23-year-old’s most productive league campaign, finding the back of the net four times in 22 games and producing three assists. His first three goals came in an eye-catching four-game span in February.

“I wish him all the best and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him,” Phoenix head coach Ufuk Talay said.

“Reno’s a talented player, which I still believe hasn’t really reached his full potential. I think injuries hindered that potential and talent to come out the last two seasons.

“He’s a good kid, he’s got a great character and I think he’ll have success wherever he goes because I think he has the right tools to do that.

“I think he’s going to be a very good player. I think he’s a really talented player with a lot of attributes that will push him to have a really good career.”
