Wellington Phoenix Sign Academy Players Ben Old and Alex Paulsen

The Wellington Phoenix are pleased to confirm that Ben Old and Alex Paulsen have both signed three-year contracts with the Club, continuing the trend of Phoenix Academy players finding professional and A-League success through the Phoenix.   The Academy has been – and will continue to be - an instrumental part of the Club’s future success, as well as being a key pathway for young Kiwi footballers looking to join the professional ranks and gain experience on the A-League stage.

Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand Football announce inaugural W-League Team for 2021/22 Season

Following the recent announcement by the Australian Professional Leagues’ (APL) that three expansion teams are in line to enter the W-League ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, the Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand Football are pleased to confirm the creation of an inaugural Wellington Phoenix W-League side for the 2021/22 season. The Wellington Phoenix W-League team will be supported with staff and resource from New Zealand Football, creating New Zealand’s first ever professional women’s football team – and a valuable platform for young Kiwi footballers who aspire to play
