To celebrate International Volunteer Day on 5 December, Wellington Phoenix would like to recognise one of Wellington’s community sports heroes at our home game on 3 December.
Community sport would not be possible without the thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy every week to helping their local club, school or organisation.
We are taking nominations for an amazing sports volunteer from the Wellington community that deserves recognition from a wider audience.
Tell us your story of an incredible volunteer who has gone above and beyond in their role and in doing so has made a really positive impact on their sport, club and/or community. We want to hear about ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things in the sporting community, and how their work is enabling their sports team, club or organisation to deliver sport to our community.
The nominations will be assessed by a panel of Wellington Phoenix staff and players, and the most outstanding volunteer will be chosen on Saturday 2 December.
Nominations close Friday 1 December at 5pm.

The chosen nominee will be recognised at Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory on Sunday 3 December, as part of celebrating International Volunteer Day on 5 December.
The chosen nominee will receive the following:
- A hospitality package for Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory for winner, the person who nominated them and their family
- Big screen recognition and a ground announcement saying why they deserve the award
- An on-pitch interview at half-time
- Recognition on Wellington Phoenix’s social media as Wellington’s Community Sports Hero
