Three Wellington Phoenix wāhine are helping develop the next generation of female coaches.
First team assistants Amy Shepherd and Tory Schiltgen and the academy’s head of female youth development Jess Fuller are presenting at the OFC/NZF Female C Licence course in Wellington this week.
The course at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) is aimed at developing female coaches that are working with talented players aged 13-19 years or senior players.
Shepherd and Schiltgen joined the women’s first team coaching staff this season having built extensive coaching experience in the U.K, U.S.A., Australia and New Zealand.

Schiltgen is also head coach of the academy’s U-18 women’s team which is playing in the Women’s Central League for the first time this year.
Fuller joined the academy staff in 2023 and coaches the U-16 girls’ team in addition to her role as the head of female youth development.
