Nix giving back to grassroots for season 20

The Wellington Phoenix have a new initiative to help the local football clubs that are the lifeblood of the game in Aotearoa.

To mark the Phoenix’s 20^th anniversary season it has launched Give Back to Grassroots to assist community clubs in the Capital and Central Football regions.

Fans can nominate their local cub whenever they buy a Nix membership or ticket during the 2026-27 A-Leagues and 20% of the purchase price goes back to the grassroots game.

Give Back to Grassroots isn’t limited to members, with any supporter able to nominate a club from greater Wellington and the Wairarapa through to Taranaki, Whanganui, Manawatū, Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti Gisborne.

Phoenix general manager David Dome has encouraged fans to get behind the initiative and back their local club.

“All of our players started playing football elsewhere,” Dome said. “And the professional game simply doesn’t exist without grassroots clubs.

“Running a club at any level isn’t easy so we hope Give Back to Grassroots helps and is a small reward for all of the hard work they do in the community game.

“This initiative is a great way to support both the Phoenix and your local club at the same time so I urge our fans to nominate a club when they buy a membership or ticket.

“A big thank you to Capital Football and Central Football for helping bring Give Back to Grassroots to life.”

The Phoenix are also proud to confirm the ever-popular Macca’s Junior Nix membership is back for another season.

Thanks to the ongoing support from McDonald’s, every under-14 footballer registered to a Capital or Central Football club is eligible for a free membership.

It covers all 22 of the Nix’s regular season A-League matches at Hnry Stadium and Porirua Park.

Parents or guardians of Macca’s Junior Nix members can secure their own membership at a 20% discount until August 18.
