Tickets for Del Piero On Sale Friday

Tickets for the Wellington Phoenix-s 2012/13 Hyundai A-League home season – including the first match against Sydney FC and Alessandro Del Piero on Saturday October 6 – go on sale Friday.

In what will be the one of the most anticipated matches ever in the Hyundai A-League, tickets for Del Piero-s first ever game in the A-League will be in hot demand – from both sides of the Tasman.

Phoenix General Manager David Dome said there has been an enormous amount of interest in the Phoenix-s first game.

“There-s always a great deal of interest in the opening game of the season and traditionally it-s one of the best crowds. With one of the world-s greatest players in Del Piero making his Australasian debut as well, then our advice is not to wait to get your ticket” Dome said.

Alessandro Del Piero comes from Italian giants Juventus and has won numerous Serie A titles, a UEFA Cup, a Champions League-s, and a World Cup. Generally regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he-s arguably the highest profile signing the Hyundai A-League has ever had.

Dome said that Del Piero has brought a lot of profile to the first home game.

“We-ve already had a lot of interest in this game, not only from within New Zealand, but also from Australia where there is a huge amount of excitement and we expect quite a large travelling contingent. There-s no doubt that all eyes will be on Wellington on October 6.”
