Macca’s Junior Nix now available outside of the capital

Thousands of young footballers outside of the Wellington region can now claim a free Wellington Phoenix membership.

The club’s groundbreaking junior membership initiative, Macca’s Junior Nix, is now available across the Central Football federation which covers Manawatū, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Whanganui and Tairāwhiti.

Thanks to McDonald’s all under-16 footballers who are registered to a Central Football club can secure a free season ticket to all Phoenix home matches in Wellington, men and women.

The Wellington Phoenix hope the complimentary memberships will make it more affordable for fans in provinces north of the capital to attend matches in Te-Whanganui-a-Tara.

Parents of under-16 footballers registered to a Central Football club will receive an email about how to claim their free membership.

Approximately 2300 young players have become Macca’s Junior Nix members since the initiative went live in the Capital Football federation last month.

The Phoenix will play a further 18 games in Aotearoa during the remainder of the 2023-24 A-Leagues, 14 of which are scheduled to be in Wellington.

The Nix men and women are also in action at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart in Auckland on Saturday week for the Macca’s Festival of Football.

To celebrate the club is offering Macca’s Junior Nix memberships to under-16 footballers registered to Northern Region Football (NRF) clubs, giving them access to the Phoenix’s remaining matches at Sky Stadium and Porirua Park.

In addition, McDonald’s is giving away 200 tickets to eligible young footballers for the Macca’s Festival of Football, which will be the Wellington Phoenix’s first double-header to be staged outside of Wellington.

The men will play three-time premiers Melbourne City in the opening match at 4:30pm, before the women make their debut appearance at Go Media Stadium when they take on Perth Glory in the distance derby, with kick-off at 7:15pm.
