Good mix in Phoenix’ Hong Kong Sevens squad

Good mix in Phoenix’ Hong Kong Sevens squad

Four contracted professionals feature in the 10-strong Wellington Phoenix squad that will contest the Hong Kong Football Club Soccer Sevens 2015 later this month.

First team squad members Louis Fenton, Kwabena Appiah, Tom Doyle and Lewis Italiano will provide valuable experience with the other six squad members coming from the club’s Academy and Reserve side.

Chris Greenacre will coach the team and he believes it will be a valuable and fun exercise for all those involved.

“It will be a fantastic experience, especially for the young guys,” Greenacre said.

“With the tournament played over two days (May 30 and 31) it will be non-stop football.

“There are some top clubs involved and we have English Premier League club Aston Villa in our group.

“Villa will be sending some of their best rising stars and our emerging players will learn plenty playing against them.”

Also in Wellington Phoenix’ group is the Hong Kong Football Association under-18 team and the Hong Kong Football Club.

The Phoenix squad is: Louis Fenton, Tom Doyle, Lewis Italiano, Kwabena Appiah, James McGarry, Sapreet Singh, Sam Wilson, Justin Gulley, Joe Bell, Logan Rogerson. Coach: Chris Greenacre.
