Canterbury defender Rebecca Lake was unveiled as Paul Temple’s first new signing for the upcoming Liberty A-League season.
Lake has represented New Zealand at both under-17 and under-20 level and captained the NZ futsal team at the World University Championship in 2022. She has been called up to both the Football Ferns and the Futsal Ferns but has yet to make her debut for either side.
She has also won multiple national titles for the Canterbury United Pride in both football and futsal.
Here are five things to know about Rebecca Lake:
Lake likes camping
Bex enjoys going camping with her family during New Zealand’s summer. She’s camped in several spots across the South Island since she was young, with her favourite place being Māpua, near Nelson.
She has the travel bug
She recently went on holiday in Japan and has officially “caught the travel bug”. Bex plans to book trips to both Greece and Switzerland in the near future.
Lake enjoys music festivals
When she isn’t spending time with her family camping at Māpua over summer, Bex can be found at music festivals with her friends. Last year she was lucky enough to go to Tomorrowland in Belgium and she is hoping to attend in the future.
She loves her food
Bex is a self-proclaimed foodie. “I enjoy trying new food and all sorts of cuisines with friends. The spicier the better!”. You’ll have no trouble trying new food in Wellington Bex!
Lake is a water baby
No pun intended here, but she loves spending time at the beach or going out on a boat. Bex enjoys doing water sports, particularly wakeboarding.
Rebecca Lake will link with the team next month when preseason training starts.
