FFA Cup quarter-final postponed

FFA Cup quarter-final postponed

The Wellington Phoenix’s FFA Cup quarter-final against Melbourne City has been postponed.

The two sides were due to meet at Casey Fields in Melbourne tonight.

Football Australia (FA) has also advised that the round of 16 match between Gold Coast Knights and Melbourne Victory, scheduled to be played on the Gold Coast tonight, has also been postponed.

FA says the postponements are due to confirmed positive COVID-19 cases within one of the participating clubs, and potential close and/or casual contact exposure to representatives of another participating club.

There are no confirmed positive cases in the Wellington Phoenix camp and none of our players or staff are currently regarded as close and/or casual contacts.

The team is now attempting to leave Melbourne and return to its base in Sydney.

Football Australia is committed to working with all four clubs and key stakeholders to reschedule these matches as soon as possible, and apologises for any inconvenience caused to supporters who were planning to attend tonight’s fixtures.
