Big-match tickets in hot demand

WELLINGTON Phoenix FC-s elimination semifinal against the Newcastle Jets at Westpac Stadium on Sunday, March 7, is proving the hottest ticket in town, with less than 5000 seats left for the big match.

The 34,500-capacity Westpac Stadium is expected to be sold out and Phoenix chief executive Tony Pignata is urging fans to secure their tickets quickly.

“We-re already close to capacity at Westpac Stadium after just five days of ticket sales. The game is certain to be a sell-out and the remaining tickets won-t last long.

“There are still excellent seats available and I-m sure people won-t want to miss out on what is going to be another historic match.”

More than 24,000 people roared the Phoenix to victory against Perth Glory at Westpac Stadium in a nail-biting match last weekend. With a full house certain for the do-or-die clash with the Jets, the atmosphere at the Phoenix-s fortress will again be electric.

“Every single person who was at Westpac Stadium last weekend experienced an incredible spectacle packed with drama, excitement and jubilation,” said Pignata. “Just imagine what the atmosphere generated by a capacity crowd will be like on March 7.”

Tickets can be secured through Ticketek on (04) 384 2457 or www.ticketek.co.nz, or from the Wellington Phoenix club store on the ground floor of the ASB Bank Tower on Hunter St in the city.

The club and Positively Wellington Tourism have also launched the “Yell-out for a Sell-out” campaign, encouraging fans at the match against the Jets to show their support for the Phoenix by wearing black and yellow.

“It-ll be incredible to see 34,500 people all dressed in Phoenix colours roaring the team on,” said Pignata. “The guys get a huge lift from the massive crowd support and we-re going to need to help of everyone at Westpac Stadium to get the win against the Jets.”
