The Wellington Phoenix are auctioning off their iconic yellow playing jerseys – as worn for their ANZAC Day match at WIN Stadium on Sunday 25 April – with all proceeds going to the Royal New Zealand Returned & Services’ Association (RNZRSA).
The Phoenix’s match against Adelaide United on ANZAC Day was a thrilling one; the 2-1 win coming courtesy of a Ben Waine goal in the 58th minute, followed by a last-gasp penalty goal by Tomer Hemed in injury time and a Man Of The Match effort by goalkeeper Oliver Sail. The victory saw the Nix remain unbeaten in their last four matches, catapulting them into the top six for the first time this season.
The TradeMe auctions include playing jerseys for all Wellington Phoenix players in the Starting XI and the seven substitutes, with each jersey emblazoned with an ANZAC logo and the details of the match; the auction winner can choose to either have one player sign the shirt or the entire squad.
Three jerseys have been assigned as Premium Auctions due to the amount of attention they are expected to attract – these are Waine, Hemed and Sail.
