Yellow Fever, the Unofficial Supporters Club of the Phoenix held a fundraising quiz to raise money for an initiative called Fever Dreams.
Fever Dreams started during the last A-League season, where each week the Yellow Fever invited a family staying at Ronald McDonald House to take a few hours out and soak up the atmosphere of a home game.
The $10 ticket price for the quiz, held at Bethel Woods on The Terrace, went straight to the Fever Dreams kitty. A signed home shirt, donated by the Wellington Phoenix, and a family pass to the Westpac Lounge, donated by Westpac Stadium, were offered as a raffle prize. A total of $1,101.85 was raised to go towards the fundraising efforts.
The official home of the Wellington Phoenix, Bethel Woods, donated bar tabs for the quiz winners and the last place team received a match day family pass courtesy of the Wellington Phoenix.
“This way exceeded my expectations and just shows what an amazing group Yellow Fever is” said Matt Weldon-Smith, the quiz organiser and organiser of the Fever Dreams concept, adding “so a big thank you to you all”.
Fever Dreams isn’t possible without donations from the Yellow Fever family and support from the wider football community. Each game day a family is treated to a complete game day experience. A pre-game meal at Bethel Woods, food voucher at the stadium, stadium parking, Wellington Phoenix upgrade with lounge passes in cases of cold, windy, Wellington days, and Yellow Fever scarves are all provided.
Thanks to the quiz effort on Saturday, we’re on track to deliver the same experience this year and are excited to not only be doing something positive for the local community but also introducing more people to the Phoenix and hopefully creating some fans for life. We look forward to seeing this initiative grow in seasons to come.
