Wellington Phoenix Academy have appointed Sam Wilkinson, in the role of Youth Coach. The experienced coach arrives from Melville United AFC, a Hamilton-based side in the Lotto NRFL Premier Division.
Wilkinson was the Academy Director and Head Coach of Melville United AFC leading them to the Chatham Cup Final and established a strong reputation for youth development in the Waikato region.
The former Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion youth coach, was also the New Zealand Men’s U17 Assistant Coach alongside head coach José Figueira, helping the team qualify for the World Cup in Brazil with victory in Honiara last September.
Wilkinson currently holds a UEFA A-License and is a former National League Player with Waikato FC and Auckland City. He is also currently completing his Masters in Elite Performance.
