Wellington Phoenix will play the round 7 fixture against Melbourne Victory, originally scheduled for Saturday 19 November 2016, on Tuesday 17 January 2017 at 7:45pm.
The match was postponed after Westpac Stadium confirmed it needed to undergo repairs from an earthquake that hit the Wellington region on Monday 14 November.
Phoenix worked with the stadium, Melbourne Victory and Football Federation Australia to find a new fixture date that suited all parties.
“After negotiations with our partners, we are very happy that our home match against Melbourne Victory has been rescheduled to Tuesday 17 January 2017,” Phoenix General Manager David Dome said.
“We will be playing matches in Auckland and Hamilton while Westpac Stadium surface is re-laid for the first time in its history.
“We felt it was very important to keep the rescheduled fixture against Melbourne Victory in Wellington.
“Phoenix fans will now have the opportunity to watch four home games in Wellington in January, three of which will be back-to-back and during the school holiday period.
“We apologise for the inconvenience the postponement of this match has caused to fans, particularly those that had planned to travel.
“The safety of everyone was our priority and we are now looking forward to playing four home games in January and hope Wellington Phoenix can help bring a sense of normality to a community that’s been affected by the earthquake.”
