Families to design bespoke Nix kit for Macca’s Match For Good double-header

The Wellington Phoenix are taking their support of Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand (RMHC® NZ) to a whole new level this season.

In partnership with McDonald’s, the Phoenix men’s and women’s teams are going to wear a bespoke kit for the Macca’s Match For Good double-header on Saturday, March 14.

The kits are being designed by families who are staying in RMHC NZ’s houses in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and will be manufactured by apparel partner Dynasty before being unveiled in late February.

The match-worn shirts will again be auctioned off post-match, with all proceeds going to RMHC NZ, whose core mission is to keep families together when their children are in hospitals away from home by providing free accommodation and support.

McDonald’s customers throughout Aotearoa can also donate to RMHC NZ the week of the double-header via kiosks and at the drive-thru and franchisees will match every donation. On top of that Dynasty will donate 10% from every charity shirt it sells.

Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome says the club is thrilled to again be able to support Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand.

“It’s an honour to be able to help raise awareness and funds for the incredible work RMHC NZ does,” Dome said.

“We wanted to make this a whole club campaign so it’s fantastic that both the men and women will wear the RMHC kit this season.

“I can’t wait to see what the children and their families come up with and I look forward to helping shine a light on RMHC NZ at our Macca’s Match For Good double-header on Saturday, March 14.”

RMHC NZ chair Ben Rose says the Macca’s Match For Good is a celebration of community and aroha.

“We’re honoured to stand alongside our partners as we raise vital funds to keep families close when they need it most,” Rose said.

“It’s incredibly special this year to see children who are staying with us designing the kits. Their creativity and courage sit at the heart of this campaign.

“To have both the men’s and women’s teams proudly wearing their designs is a beautiful acknowledgement of the strength of our whānau.”

The inaugural Macca’s Match For Good in March this year raised more than 70 thousand dollars for RMHC NZ.
