The Wellington Phoenix will be without Manjrekar James for their round eight Isuzu UTE A-League match against Newcastle Jets at Sky Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Football Australia’s independent match review panel has confirmed the Canadian defender will receive the minimum one match ban after he was sent off at the start of the second half of the New Zealand derby on Saturday.
The panel determined that James denied Auckland FC an obvious goalscoring opportunity, agreeing with the referee Adam Kersey.
James will be eligible to return for the Phoenix’s round nine match against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday, December 21, also at Sky Stadium.
