The Wellington Phoenix are proud to have STATSports come onboard as the club’s official GPS athlete performance tracking partner.
STATSports is recognised as the global leader in athlete monitoring and GPS performance analysis and is trusted by the world’s leading football clubs and national teams, including reigning English Premier League champions Liverpool FC, 2025 Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, and the England and Portugal national teams.
Phoenix head physical performance scientist Weijie Lim says STATSports has quickly become an essential part of the club’s high performance programme.
“For the first time in our history all Phoenix teams from the A-Leagues through to the academy are using the same tracking system to monitor and manage player loads,” Lim said.
“This enables us to consolidate all GPS data across the Phoenix into a single centralised system.
“Since integrating STATSports into our training and match-day environment we’ve seen an improvement in how we monitor and manage player performance.
“The real-time data allows us to track player loading, distance covered, and high intensity efforts with extensive accuracy.”
STATSports co-founder Sean O’Connor has welcomed the partnership.
“We’re delighted to partner with the Wellington Phoenix and support their commitment to developing players at every level of the club,” O’Connor said.
“By providing performance technology trusted by the world’s top teams, the Phoenix will continue to push standards on and off the pitch.
“This partnership is a clear statement of intent about how they operate as a club – forward-thinking and dedicated to giving their players the best chance to succeed.”
