A weekend of mixed fortunes for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
Both Central League teams suffered rare losses which dented their title hopes.
The men’s reserves went down 2-1 to Petone. Luke Flowerdew continued his personal momentum, scoring again after netting against Wrexham last week, but it was not enough for the Nix.
The U18 women fell to Wellington United, who continued their perfect season with a 3-0 triumph.
The U16 girls also lost, Waterside Karori beating them 2-0.
However, the U15 and U14 boys sides both enjoyed crushing wins over Stop Out.
A Shaina-Nashe Marahwa hattrick, plus braces for Zach Cashmore, Vasilios Kastrinakis and Harry Grosso, and a solitary goal for Keegan Rodwell ensured an 11-0 win for the U15s.
The U14 boys were led to an 8-0 victory by Caleb Brown’s four goals, while Sam Brooking nabbed a brace and Gus von Dadelszen and Louis Jones grabbed one apiece.
This weekend sees five matches at Fraser Park, with the men’s reserves, U18 men, and U16 men all hosting Wellington Olympic.
The U18 women await the visit of Palmerston North Marist, and the U16 girls host Onslow/North Wellington.
The women’s reserves travel to Upper Hutt City, the U15 boys go to Petone, and the U14 boys play Greytown FC.
