Another positive weekend for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
In the Central League, the U18 women snatched a dramatic win over Petone. Down 1-0 at halftime, a penalty from Olivia Goodwin and an injury time winner for Mackenzie Bryant secured all three points.
The U18 men could not match that result though, going down 2-1 to Petone. Willem Des Tombe scored the goal for the Nix.
The women’s reserves faced off against the U14 boys side in the U15 Capital Development League, and it ended all square at 2-2.
Alyssha Eglinton and Lily Brazendale were on the scoresheet for the women’s reserves, while the U14’s goals came from Sam Brooking and Caleb Brown.
Finally, the U16 boys comfortably beat Seatoun 3-1, a Jack Clegg double and a late Cooper Davidson strike ensuring victory.
This weekend, the men’s reserves travel to Petone, while the women’s U18s host Wellington United.
The U16 girls play Waterside Karori, and both U15 and U14 boys teams face Stop Out.
