Another positive weekend for the Wellington Phoenix academy.
In the Dettol Central League, the men’s reserves showcased their grit, coming back from two goals with ten minutes to play, a late Luke Supyk double securing a 2-2 draw.
The women’s U18s also had a notable result, romping to an 11-0 win over Victoria University in the Central League.
Katie Pugh again led the charge with a remarkable five goal haul. Ruby Hale nabbed a brace, while Mackenzie Bryant, Kya Solomon, Freya Des Fountain, and Anahera Easton each scored one.
The women’s reserves kept their perfect streak alive with a 2-0 win at Wellington Olympic, both goals from Isla Cleall-Harding.
The Capital Premier division saw the U18 men’s team go down to Petone FC despite an early strike from Luqman Ibrahim.
There was another comeback for the U16 girls, Ruby Barber netting twice in two minutes to earn a 3-3 draw from 3-1 down. Lilian Mckenzie had scored the first for the Nix.
Jack Clegg scored a hattrick for the U15 boys side against Te Kotahitanga in a 6-0 win. The other goalscorers were London Ridge, Sam Kiore, and Shaina-Nashe Marahwa.
The U14 boys hosted the same opposition, and were held to a 0-0 draw.
This weekend, the men’s reserves travel to North Wellington, as do the U16 boys.
The women’s reserves and U16 girls both host Island Bay United.
The men’s U18 team have a trip to Wellington Marist, the U15 boys go to Upper Hutt City, and the U14 boys play Wellington Olympic.
