The Wellington Phoenix are returning to their Auckland fortress in 2024.
The Phoenix’s round 21 Isuzu UTE A-League match against Sydney FC on Saturday, March 16 will be played at Eden Park, where the men have never been beaten.
The Nix have played 11 matches at the venue since November 2011, winning six and drawing five.
Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome says Eden Park was the obvious choice for what will be the club’s final home match in Auckland.
“We committed to playing two games in Tāmaki Makaurau at the start of the season and it’s fitting that we’ll host one more match at Eden Park before the new expansion side arrives,” Dome said.
“It’s been a happy hunting ground for us and we have fond memories of our matches there.
“Ufuk Talay was in charge for our past six visits to Eden Park and it adds to the occasion that he is now Sydney FC’s head coach.
“Nick and his team at Eden Park are also great to deal with and we look forward to working together again in March.”
Eden Park CEO Nick Sautner is delighted the Phoenix are returning in 2024.

Eden Park is also looking to build on the momentum from the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which saw the stadium host 350,000 fans during the tournament.

“We are committed to building on this success, continuously improving our facilities, and attracting even more football events to Auckland.”
