The Wellington Phoenix and SKYCITY New Zealand Breakers have joined forces to take on Perth in a unique sporting weekend.
Over the weekend of February 1 and 2 New Zealand will take on Perth in a unique and exciting double header sporting weekend. Friday February 1 sees the SKYCITY New Zealand Breakers meet the Perth Wildcats with the Phoenix taking on Perth Glory at Eden Park the following day and fans can get a taste of both codes for a great price with a special ‘one price – two ticket- offer, available through Ticketmaster.
While both match ups take place in Auckland, Phoenix General Manager David Dome says the weekend promises to be unique sporting event that the whole of New Zealand will want to get in behind.
“Being part of a double header with the SKYCITY Breakers is a wonderful cross code sporting weekend, and an excellent opportunity for fans from around the country to experience the two best teams in trans-Tasman competitions taking on their respective Perth opponents, ” Dome said.
“It-s a unique sporting event. Who knows when two teams playing in a trans-Tasman competition will play the same Australian city rival on successive days in the future”.
“The SKYCITY Breakers are leading the way for New Zealand teams in Australasian sporting competitions and it is an honour to be part of a double header with them”.
SKYCITY Breakers General Manager Richard Clarke says it is a fantastic opportunity to bring the codes together.
“With the ticket promotions on offer fans of both codes will get the chance to savour the atmosphere at a different sport,” Clarke said.
“With the fixture lists bringing both the Wildcats and Glory into Auckland over the same weekend we, along with the Phoenix, wanted to capitalise for our supporters.”
Both teams will be based at the Breakers- principal sponsor, SKYCITY, and there will be a number of opportunities for the public to meet both teams at SKY CITY – Auckland-s premier entertainment venue.
