For the first time in Club history, the Wellington Phoenix will launch a range of Paladin-branded retail kits and team apparel for both its men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming A-League 21/22 Season.
We absolutely love the look of this season’s playing kit – we think it’s the best kit in the league – and it’s exciting for us to be launching a women’s-specific kit for the first time; it’s an important step in the right direction for this Club – David Dome.
Designed by the Club’s official Apparel Partner, Paladin, the Phoenix men’s and women’s home jersey brings back the iconic black and yellow stripes design that has been popular with its fanbase over the years. The men’s home kit will feature Spark on the front of shirt, with the women’s kit currently blank – pending confirmation of a major sponsor.
The away kit continues with the aqua look first launched by the Club last season, with a fresh new design introduced by Paladin in September which was well-received by fans across Australasia. This kit features Oppo on the front of shirt for the men’s version, with the women’s kit also pending a major sponsor.
In addition, both the Phoenix home and away Men’s goalkeeping kits will be made available for sale for the first time; with the blue home version featuring the Spark logo and the green away kit emblazoned with the Oppo logo.
Complementing the on-field kit, Paladin has also released an expanded set of off-field apparel for the 2021/22 season, which includes a new range of Phoenix-branded shorts, t-shirts, away-branded jackets and more.
A limited pre-order window is now open for these kits via the Club’s official merchandise retailer, Football Central (www.footballcentral.co.nz). The retail kits are expected to arrive at the beginning of January 2022.
General Manager, David Dome, says that he expects the new range to be popular with male and female fans on both sides of the Tasman.
“We absolutely love the look of this season’s playing kit – we think it’s the best kit in the league – and it’s exciting for us to be launching a women’s-specific kit for the first time; it’s an important step in the right direction for this Club,” says Dome.
Dome says that the Club has been working hard to ensure the retail kits are delivered to Phoenix fans as soon as possible.
“Unfortunately for the Club we’ve been delayed with our merchandise kit timings due to a range of factors outside of Paladin’s and our control – including the addition of a Women’s team and delays in finding a front of shirt Women’s sponsor – but we trust that fans will understand the difficulties we continue to face in this current Covid climate.
“As a Club we face these challenges head-on and we battle on; we’re a resilient Club and we greatly appreciate both the support and the sacrifice from our fans over the past few seasons.”
The Wellington Phoenix Men’s squad will wear their new kit for the first time versus Macarthur FC, in an away match on Sunday 21 November at Campbelltown Stadium in NSW.
The Phoenix Women’s team will take to the field in their new home jersey on Friday 3 December at WIN Stadium, Wollongong when they take on the Western Sydney Wanderers for their first-ever A-League match.
