Hicks is a left-sided midfielder with an eye for the spectacular.
He initially joined the Phoenix as an injury replacement player, but was signed on a full contract after impressive early contributions, including a terrific goal against the Jets in Newcastle.
Earlier this year, he also made his All Whites debut.
Born in England, Hicks moved to New Zealand as a small child and played his junior football at East Coast Bays, where, at the age of 12, he was a member of the side that won the Brisbane Youth Cup.
