24 Attacker
Pia Vlok joined the Wellington Phoenix for the start of pre-season training in September 2025 after signing a three-year contract, the first two of which are on scholarship terms.
The young forward started playing football at Three Kings United (now Auckland United) and spent time at Central United and Bucklands Beach AFC before rejoining Auckland United as a 12-year-old.
As well as playing for boys’ teams Vlok helped Auckland United win a remarkable four trophies last year.
She has also shone for New Zealand at age-group level.
Vlok was named the best player at the 2024 OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Fiji before going on to represent New Zealand at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic. She started two of their three group matches.
> 2024-25 season
Pia Vlok returned from the Dominican Republic to help Auckland United clinch their fourth title of 2024.
Vlok scored their first goal in their 3-1 win over Waterside Karori in the National League Championship grand final and was named player of the match.
She primarily played with and against boys in 2025 but has made some appearances for Auckland United’s women’s first team, including scoring a hat-trick against Ellerslie after coming on as a substitute.
Vlok visited the Phoenix’s training base at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) before her move was announced.
“It’s a dream come true to sign with the Phoenix. I’ve been wanting this ever since I was little.
“I watch heaps of their games and my teammate at Auckland United, Chloe Knott, is a big inspiration for me and she was at the Phoenix so I could see it being a possibility for me.
“Coming here and seeing the facilities it’s now real. It’s a big step for my career, but I think I’m ready.”
